Offerings

If you wish to truly honor the old ways, offer ‘trade’ tobacco, often called a tobacco ‘twist’. Organically grown trade tobacco is now available. Otherwise, offer a small pouch of non-aromatic pipe tobacco. While any form of tobacco is acceptable, cigarette tobacco has many chemicals added to it. The same is true of aromatic pipe tobacco. Thus both are less desirable than regular pipe tobacco.

Tobacco, in addition to being smoked in ceremonial Pipes, is also offered to the Mother Earth, along with a prayer, before any living thing is harvested.
